================================================================ Title : Malemunda - World of Evil Filename : malemunda.bsp (was released as aq2wb1.bsp durring playtesting, but that map had horrible r_speeds). Author(s) : Jason Abbott Email Address : jasona@brimstone.com Homepage : http://www.brimstone.com/quake2 Description : A small Action Quake level, good for 2 on 2 team combat. Installation : unzip to: Quake2\action\maps Additional Credits to : ID Software for Quake2 ateam@telefragged.com for Action Quake Yahn Bernier for BSP The many online style/help pages for level editing, notably Rust and the BSPHQ. What worked : 1) Little brace/duckdown bits work just as well for cover in Quake as they do in Necromunda. 2) Putting guides next to ladders to make them easier to climb in combat situations. 3) Parody factor. It does look the part. 4) Listening to the playtesters. 5) Recompiling with a Qbsp3 that has Alexander Malmberg faces bug fixed. What didn't work : 1) Outdoor scene. If it weren't for the fact that it's supposed to be a parody of Necromunda, I'd have scrapped the whole thing. The VIS count is really bad at times. 2) Not enough dark spots. I personally hate dark camping spots, but they work well in Action Quake. 3) If I were to spend more time I'd put in little internal braces imbedded everywhere two walls meet so that light doesn't poke through. Rookie move on my part. 4) Some of the ladders are still rough to climb. Again, if it weren't that I wanted the pre-fabs to look like you were standing in a lifesized Necromunda parody I'd have scrapped 'em. ---------------------------------------------------------------- * Legal Stuff * ---------------------------------------------------------------- Authors may NOT use this level as a base to build additional levels. You MAY distribute this BSP, provided you include this file, with no modifications. You may distribute this file in any electronic format (BBS, Diskette, CD, etc) as long as you include this file intact. If you intend to use this level in any way (TC's, Mission Packs, CD's, Freebee's, etc.) please contact me first. As far as I understand it, I'm covered by laws governing fair parody with respects to GW and their game Necromunda. But just in case, let me state that I in no way challenge their right to Necromunda or the Grim Darkness of the Far Future, and if they sick their skull and spike encrusted lawyers on me I'll gladly hand over the *.map and prefabs to them. To all the rest of you, if you haven't checked out Necromunda, it's a blast. Try it. ---------------------------------------------------------------- ** Where to get the original BSP ** ---------------------------------------------------------------- http://www.brimstone.com/quake2/local/maps/malemunda.zip
