Adventuring

Nissi's Victims

So we all decided we were bad-asses, and that nothing would fear us, and our enemies would fall like so much wheat before our swords... and, yeah, that big bad monster Nessi, who had a whole dungeon named after him (her?)... Damn right, we're going to... to... die in mass numbers.

Leaving for the Day

After a long day of adventuring, it's time to sit back, take a load off, and wait for the server to whisk you away. Here's a shot of the Madwoman and Etaobaen logging out for the day in the middle of Jordheim.

At Death's Door

Sometimes... sometimes... it just all comes down around your ears. It's at times like these, when my healer realizes there's just no one left to heal (you can see the comment in the dialog box with the results of his last spell)... and it's time to just gird your loins and take what's coming... "Hi Death, how's the wife and kids?"

Chatting With Death

Like all good healers, Hjodill's friend Tap had managed to run away when the fight took a turn from dire to downright tragic... so those of us who were dead thought we'd spend the few minutes dead hoping that he'd make it back and resurrect us. As it turns out, no, the bad men got him too, and we all joined up at the bind spot. But we had a fine time talking while being dead.

Etaobaen's Kitty

One of the characters I play is Etaobaen, a Midgardian Huntress. She has a little pet kitty cat and wields a big big spear. Actually she can use any spear she gets her hand on, and could tame any number of wild beasts, but that's what she's got in this photo. A big spear and a tiny kitty.

Off on Adventure

And, after all good adventures, it was time to ride off into the sunset... or at least run off into the fields. Here we're actually wrapping up one adventure and going off to find a new adventure we heard about up North.

Combat

Blodfelag

A good, well balanced and coordinated group can take on beasties well above their level, and rack up really nice XP. Of course, the counter to this is an unbalanced or reckless group can cause you so many deaths it's not even funny.

Fortunately this group were on the ball, and we were taking out really nasty Blodfelag bandits and spellcasters. Plus the occasional cat and wind spirit that wandered across our encampment.

Our Guild

Brimstone

The old AC Slag guild got together with some of our good friends and formed the Brimstone guild.

We've three ranks currently; Brennisteinnjarl, Storknakarl and Stedidrengir.

Bugs

Wacky Video Bug

Before I could get to play the game non-stop, I needed to switch over some drivers that I had been using for faster frame rate. I'd been using the chip manufacturer's drivers, rather than the card manufacturer's drivers, and it seems that there were some bizarre graphical oddities that were being produced by using the wrong drivers.

These house like structures would move across the landscape like huge lumbering lumber goliaths... They were obviously people's pets (or they could be actual people) which the card didn't have the correct dimensions for and rendered incorrectly. They were quite scarey to look at.

Invisible Horse

Maybe the horse is a ranger? Or maybe this guy just mapped his jump key to something strange, like CTRL-y or something. I don't know. He wasn't getting anywhere fast, that was for sure... sure hope no one rents me an invisible horse.

Trick Riding

Sure, horses are fast, possibly even faster than Skalds, but jeez, it can get boring. Sometimes I leap about on my horse to entertain myself. Only the most patient horses will put up with this sort of abuse.
