Realm vs Realm

First time out - Albions in Hibernia

So, after a long day of healing hunting parties out in the Midgard Frontier a bunch of us heard that there was all sort of things happening out on the Hibernian frontier. In fact, the valiant Midgard forces had already captured one Hibernian Fort and were launching an assault on another.

So I offered my services as a simple healer (as healers are always in high demand) knowing that I'd probably be killed off soon... but eager to see carnage and to part of the forces putting down the Hibernians.

There was a huge gathering of Midgardians in the Hibernian frontier, and most of these guys were truly high level (35+). Apparently to have a chance at taking out the fort guards, you really need to be level 30+ to have a chance at landing a blow.

The three guilds that organized the quest asked that those who weren't level 35+ please run interference on any Hibernian reinforcements, rather than joining in the raid itself, as there were lag issues with too many people storming a fort. When everyone was organized, we headed out from the safety of the Midgard corner of the Hibernian frontier...

Our group of non-elite stuck closely together, searching the Hibernian country-side to find parties of defenders we could put to the sword.

But what's this? A large Albion raiding party? Oh no!

When all was said and done, we died pretty quickly... But not in vain. Because of us, our fellow Midgardians were warned there were large numbers of Albions about (well, some of them already knew that, but a Vikings gotta boast about something!). Plus, before we died we took at least one Albion down, so Hjodill got his first realm points! Two of 'em!

Adventuring in Albion

After doing some cursory adventures into Hibernia, a bunch of us realized we'd never seen Ablion. So, lead by the brave Sintanic Steelhand, we ventured forth. It's a mysterious land, seeped in Roman ruins. Here you can see us avoiding an Albion patrol...

And here you can see me not having avoided the patrol well enough...

The Battle of the Lake

We heard there were some sneaky Hibernians lurking around our frontier! The nerve of them. This would never do! So we cautiously crept from forest to forest, keeping our eyes peeled for any sign of the invader. Finally, reaching a well defended fort of our own, we heard that the invaders were camping the Vindsaul Faste! By Odin's weeping socket, this would not do! We charged. We ran straight at the faste... and they blindsided us and wiped us out in under 15 seconds.

So we gathered together, with about 30 other stout Midgardian warriors who were sickened at the tought of Hibernian interlopers... and we, en masse, roared up the road to the Yggdra Lake. There we found an equal number of Hibernian attackers! Woot! The battle was joined!

I stood my ground smack dab in the center of the madness, whirling left, stunning an invader, whirling right, ressurecting a commerade, spinning around, stunning another invader. It was glorious, it was bloody, it was everything a growing Midgarding boy dreams about.

In the end, though, there must have been some trechery, or Loki cast an evil eye our way, for we were undone. The remaining Hibernians danced on our corpses, and then fled off into the night. But... for 5 minutes, glory was found in amidst the clamour and the clang of weapons in the depths of the Yggdra forrest.

Worked in Hibernia

We were working the Albions left right and center in Hibernia. Chasing them from the milegate back to their fort, over and over again. Of course, do I get a screen shot of us kicking their backsides? No. I get a shot of us falling when I finally died.

Sniper Fun

Winfrey did his happy little elvin sniper dance on all our corpses when he got done playing cat and mouse with us. Damn that elf. Must make him pay some day. Or is it a she? I can't tell in this light... and I certainly couldn't tell when they were stalking us. :)
