Jasona's Martial Mystic Fantasy Hero Campaign Notes

These are just my notes on the current campaign I'm running using the Fantasy Hero and Martial Hero rules. I have no idea why the general net would be interested, but the players might want to check it from time to time and I have to store them somewhere.

In the last couple of adventures I realized that, since I only have one other experience Hero-system player, I might want to convert the characters and the champaign over to the Fuzion system.

Background

The general plot for introducing the starting characters would be something like the following:

Most of the known world is controlled by one kingdom, T'chador, and the King and the rest of the royal family. There is one large kingdom to the South, Renwath, with which the T'chador has enjoyed both lucrative trade and the constant tension/threat of invasion. T'chador is broken down into the main city of Chen and several small surrounding dukedoms. Overall the people are happy and loyal to the King and their respective Dukes/Dutchesses.

Most of the armies of this time depend on hand-to-hand training (both armed and unarmed), reminiscent of feudal China. Magic is rare and held in both fear and awe by most of the people of the land, as are the mages who use it. Most of the armies of this era are composed of the police force (or guard, as their called) plus sometimes pressed civilians (sometimes willingly , sometimes not. More often willingly in T'chador than Renwath). T'chador's forces include the police forces of each of it's dukedoms, the city Chen's guard, and the royal guard (fiercely loyal to the royal family).

The Church is a large political power in T'chador, even to the extent of holding a standing army of it's own. The Church is very opposed to magic and persecutes wielders of magic when-ever it can. Originally the Royal family was entirely obedient to the Church, but in recent generations has taken to council of wizards and mages, and this has become a growing source of contention between the royal family and the Church. Renwath is far more loyal to the Church, and is essentially church run.

There is the constant threat of raiders from the ice-lands from the North (which has been growing in recent years) and of possible war with Renwath. The Church has also been pressuring both the Royal family and residents to a more strict and orthodox state of affairs.

I would be looking for players to be either lower members of the royal family, mages, members of the royal guard or friends to those people. But then I'm open for anything that would advance the plot more.

Those of you familiar with the Darwath books my notice a distinct similarity, if you do, then you know what plot point may be coming just down the road. :)

Point Level

Characters should be 100 points base, plus up to 100 points in disadvantages. Standard human maximas will apply for the player characters. I don't want to see an OCV higher than 12 or a DCV higher than 15, nor an attack more than 10d6 (50 active points). I don't want to see a magic roll higher 16.

Royal Family

Emperor Ming
A capable ruler, well loved by the people of Chen and most of the surrounding lands. The barbarians to the North are more respective of him than his father, but he still pales in comparison to the prowess that his grandfather impressed the nomads with.
Prince Jet Ming
The eldest of the three princes. Capable and well trained for the role of eventually taking over the ruling of the lands of T'Chador. Like all the princes, he's been trained in the Royal Guards. He's got his father's wit and rational thought. He's also got the stubbornness of his mother (Mui) and the strong Kai of both his parents.
Prince Vass Ming
(Johnathan's Character). Involved in a plot with a house of Hastur at an early time in his life, the princess Reh claimed that she was pregnant with his child and tried to force a royal marriage between herself and Prince Vass. The eventual reprocussions of this lead to the war between House Hastur and the House Ming (with it's allies House Tohan and House Jeraix).
Prince Yun Ming
The youngest of the three princes. He doesn't seem to take much that seriously. He's quite the womanizer, and only practices his guard katas when the mood.
Consort X
Consort Y
Consort Mui

The Court

Burgic
Burgic was seduced by the magic of the Dark and eventually died for his blasphemy.

Various Peoples of T'Chador

Royal Guard
Used to guard both the City of Chen and the Royal Family, these troops are a mixture of diplomats, scholars and rough and ready guards. Housed in the barracks just off of the Royal Castle, they lead a more spartan/monkish life than those guards of other towns. However they can often be found in the seedier inns and dive bars of the lower parts of Chen where they can escape the watchful eye of their superiors and discuss the latest court politics. Two notable members of the Royal Guard who've been with the characters in the past are Chan Lo and Squid Li.
Troops of Baron Tohan
Almost as suspicious as the barbarians up North, these troops are only held in reign in their alliance to Baron Tohan. Few of their members deal well with any of the rest of the peoples of the lands of T'Chador, saving those that prove themselves to these neo-barbarians. Two of the barbarians who have accompanied Baron Tohan in the past are Han Su and Lau Su.
Shamen
Shamen are a fearsome and mysterious branch of sorcerors that survive by themselves out in the Barbarian wilderness. Slightly protective of the Northern Barbarians, they are both feared and held in awe by those same folk. It has been said by the Barbarians that when a Shamen starts his (or her) training they must sign an oath to never speak a coherient tought to anyone who isn't a shamen. Shamen are most easily thought of as a mix between sorcerors, viking berserkers and eco-terrorists. The party has met only one shamen so far; Shamen Sanguine Bear.

The Houses of T'Chador

Ming
see above
Hastur
Princess Reh
Jeraix

Tohan
Baron Tohan

Neighbors of T'Chador

Renwath
A very religious country, almost completely run by the Church. The main military force is used to guard the Church, the country, it's cities and it's rulers. One of the Elite Scout of the Renwath Guard is Captain Tion.
The Barbarian North
Currently in a casual alliance with the House of Ming, and because of that most of the houses of T'Chador. This alliance was brought about by the daring actions of Emperor Ming's Grandfather, and almost brought to a dreadful end by the follies of his son.
